Fitzroy Island Sports Hub + Day Tours的点评
点评：We went to Fitzroy Island, spending 4 nights at the resort. We had prebooked the snorkel safari and scuba dive.
The day before the scuba dive, we got an email at 4:30 pm advising that the dive was cancelled due to staffing issues. We immediately went to the resort reception to try to make alternative arrangements. They said to go to the sports hub, but it closes by 4:00pm each day. So we turned up again the next morning right on opening. The earliest they could reschedule us was for the morning of our departure. However, that would have meant we would miss the transfer back to Cairns, so we had to abandon that plan. They offered to swap the scuba dive for the snorkel safari, but as I said, we had already booked this for the next day.
The snorkel safari was an almost complete waste of time. The crew and pilot of the boat argued for 10 minutes about the best place to go, then just took us 50m up the beach, a place we had been snorkeling by ourselves the previous day. The glass bottom boat they use to get us there was useless for seeing anything while the boat is moving at that speed. We struggled to see a lot of fish, since they kept everyone in a close bunch. With 20 people splashing around, most of the fish buggered off to hide. We would have been so much better off saving our money and finding a quiet part of the island and snorkeled by ourselves.
I feel sorry for the people who work there. They all seem to be underpaid overseas backpackers who are doing the best they can. The real problem with this place is the lack of management.
