Great Experience on the West Side of the Island

点评：Most of the best things to do in Acadia National Park are on the east side of Mount Desert Island. However, plan to visit the west side as well as there are great things to see there as well. One of those things to do is the Wonderland Trail which is one of the top ranked west side trail in AllTrails. It is a 1.3 mile round trip lollypop with 78 of elevation gain so fairly easy and accessible by most. It is a forest hike that has several places to access the water. However, go all the way to end as there are the best views, including a good one of Cadillac Mountain. The lollypop section also traverses a thick conifer forest that is different the most other parts of the trails. Finally we were treated to great fall flowers on this trail.
Again, the west side is not as celebrated as the east side, but that does not mean it does not have great experiences. Additionally, the west side is much less crowded so here you can have portions of the park to yourself as we did on the lollypop section. If you are on the west side, Wonderland is a great trail with beautiful views.
