点评:I walked to Shibden Park recently, having not visited since I was a teenager. Back then, the park was well maintained and definitely worth a visit. Sadly, that’s no longer the case.
The park now feels neglected and poorly kept. The train ride is particularly overpriced at £3 for just two minutes, especially considering it only goes around an area that is unkempt and full of flies due to the excessive amount of swan and duck droppings — the paths are covered in it.
The top part of the hill hasn’t even been cut, so the grass is far too long to sit on comfortably. A hill that was once the best around to roll down, shame for the kids !
The only real saving grace is the café, which is nice if you eat inside. Outside, the grass is so overgrown you’d practically be sitting in grass up to your knees.
Overall, a disappointing visit — I’m just glad I didn’t pay for parking.
