Heatherslaw Corn Mill的点评
点评：Very pretty place, exceptionally maintained and free parking. The waterwheel was not working due to low water levels but the self guided tour was still well worth it. The entrance fee of £4 each is excellent value. There are plenty of exhibits and pictorial information. The place is steeped in history. We throughly enjoyed it. There is a shop inside the mill and we purchased some delicious muesli. So good that we went back a couple of days later to buy some more.
There is a cafe next door however we didn’t try this but plenty of customers were sitting at tables outside.
There is a lovely easy walk to Etal which is a very picturesque village. There you will find the remains of Etal castle which are well worth a visit. Free to enter. You can take a small light steam rail from heatherslaw to Etal but the walk is very easy and pleasant.
In fact the whole Ford Etal estate is a great place to visit. Walk from Ford straight through Heatherslaw then on to Etal. Total 2.5 miles each way. Easy walk well signposted.
Then drive to Flodden Battle field and the whole historical picture is complete.
One of the best days out we have had in a long time.
