点评：Went here at the recommendation of a Dutch in-law. Holy cow!
Yes,it’s very heavily oriented towards kids. The central pavilion is a giant kids area, with “spokes” that take you to an interesting area growing hydroponic vegetables, a butterfly area, a cactus and succulents area, and eventually to an aerial walkway where you can see production elements like robots pulling long carts of plants, people on an assembly line preparing seedlings to be the beautiful plants you’ll eventually see in garden centers. (20,000+ an hour on one line. The mind just boggles!)
A few animal exhibitions, and you were able to get quite close. The meerkats were terrific, and the butterflies more numerous than I’ve seen, even in a famous butterfly center in my state, one of the first in the world. The blue butterflies were electric. Like winged jewels.
Kudos on the habitats for animals. Scrupulously clean, spacious, better facilities than I’ve seen, even in quality zoos.
The plantings throughout were also meticulously maintained. I’ve been to botanical gardens all over the world, and these were by far the healthiest collections of plants I’ve ever seen. Huge variety of plants.
Admission for an adult was 12€, but it clearly goes to the upkeep of the plants and animals, and the biggest playground I’ve ever seen in my life. Kids were having an absolute ball here. Lots of laughter and pointing at interesting things to look at, besides the various playgrounds.
I was utterly surprised by how interesting my visit was. I don’t know what I was expecting but it certainly wasn’t a giant, family friendly, but appealing to plant lovers, indoor garden.
