点评：This has become our favorite anniversary spot. Besides the fact that the mosquitos are the sizes of pterodactyls, we’ll just plan better next year. We like the waterfront on the island spots, the 5 island spots are nicely separated with distance and vegetation. Very private. At least speaking for the island spots, they aren’t really for campers that need electricity and things for the kids to do. It’s to chill in nature. It’s also not exactly silent. A fair amount of boat traffic to the Mississippi and the trains run fairly constantly, whistles and all. But plenty of wildlife to listen to as well. Great view of the stars and firewood is available in the campground, campground entrance and Kwik Trip to list a few.
We like it because we don’t really see or hear anyone. Private to do what we want. Decent amenities, showers in the north campground and the port a potties are clean and stocked enough. You bring your gear to the site by cart. If you depend on your vehicle, it’s 50-100 yards away.
Fountain City and Winona are close by for all the food, beverage and supply needs.
This would absolutely not be a 5 star for many, but it is for us…true tent folks.
