点评:We are frequent visitors to museums and firmly believe that local museums deserve our support to help preserve history and culture. Unfortunately, the Ullapool Museum is a total and utter disappointment and simply not worth the £6.50 admission fee they have the audacity to charge.
The museum is extremely small and filled with only superficial information about topics that are, in themselves, genuinely fascinating. Instead of telling compelling stories about the rich history of Loch Broom, crofting, fishing, emigration, and the herring industry, the exhibits barely scratch the surface. We walked through the entire museum in less than 15 minutes and left feeling that we had learned very little.
We fully appreciate that the museum is largely run by dedicated volunteers, and we genuinely respect the effort that goes into preserving local heritage. However, goodwill alone does not justify the admission price. The museum has tremendous potential, but in its current form it offers poor value for money.
We rarely write negative reviews, but visitors should know what to expect.
Unless the museum is significantly expanded or the admission fee is reduced, we cannot recommend a visit.
