点评:This superb museum is set in the grounds of the Promenade park, a historic attraction best known for it's resident fleet of Thames barges which sail from the adjacent quay. The museum has one of the best collections of social history bygone items representing the life of the people of Maldon through the ages. The exhibits are presented in recreations of the rooms in which they would have existed providing a window into the past. With many items donated by local residents, the museum presents the lives of many key people who made their name in the town. Despite the vast collection, it is well organised and arranged and is sure to provoke many memories of those old enough to remember past times, but also feed inquisitive young minds. Car parking available at the park adjacent with pay and display with toilet facilities outside the building in the carpark outside. The museum has no catering but there are plenty of food and drink consessions in the park. As it is an old building, there is no lift to the upper floors but plenty to see downstairs if you are physically disabled. Entry is free with donations to keep the museum, run by volunteers, funded. Allow an hour to 2 hours for your visit. Check opening times before you go as it has limited opening times during the week days.
