Sendai Uminomori Aquarium的点评
点评：This is a MUST do if you’re in Sendai!! I love aquariums and this one of my favorites (Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan being the other favorite). It’s about an hour by train from Sendai Station but well worth the trip. I would recommend going during a weekday when the weather is good to avoid crowds (aquariums and other indoor activities fill up during rainy days).
The show was fantastic! I won’t give spoilers about the show but I really enjoyed seeing TWO different species of dolphins performing together. I didn’t feel like the aquarium was exploiting animals in the shows and all the animals looked pretty healthy. The animals were treated humanely at this aquarium but I would say some of the tanks for the marine mammals were on the smaller side.
The outdoor penguin area was so well designed and really exciting!! You are literally RIGHT NEXT to the penguins! But DO NOT touch them, they can bite! I feel the exhibit design can only be done here in Japan because other countries don’t have the mentality of following the rules to keep the animals safe.
Something I really wanted to do (but couldn’t bring myself to do since I’m not a child), was to take a pearl out of an oyster. The aquarium set up this “crafting” area where you can take a pearl out of a dead oyster but only people with children were doing this activity and I felt too embarrassed to do it. But if you have kids, this is a must do! The staff will even put the pearl on a necklace for you to purchase.
*This aquarium was well built for people with mobility disabilities. There were some escalators but there were always elevators nearby as well. During peak hours, I’m sure this place gets more crowded but it was quite empty when I went during the weekday.*

我真的很想做一件事（但我不是小孩，所以没法做），那就是从牡蛎中取出一颗珍珠。水族馆设立了这个“手工制作”区，你可以从死牡蛎中取出一颗珍珠，但只有带着孩子的人才会做这个活动，我觉得太尴尬了，不敢做。但如果你有孩子，这是必须做的！工作人员甚至会把珍珠放在项链上供你购买。
*这个水族馆是为行动不便的人建造的。有一些自动扶梯，但附近也总是有电梯。在高峰时段，我敢肯定这个地方会更拥挤，但我在工作日去的时候很空旷。*
