The Woronora Dam has re-opened!

点评：This is a great spot if you're looking for somewhere different for your next picnic - with excellent picnic facilities and the unique activity of walking across a dam wall.
After reading in my local newspaper that pedestrian access to Woronora Dam had finally been opened (following the strengthening and refurbishment of the spillway bridge), we headed down for a late-summer picnic.
There were two picnic areas to choose from: the upper section with seating in a bush setting, or the lower section overlooking the Woronora Dam. We chose the latter. In both sections, the grassed and garden areas were tidy and had been maintained well by the council.
The peacefulness and lovely water views were evident as soon as we got out of the car. The facilities were impressive: plenty of undercover tables/seating overlooking the water along with hot water for a cuppa, powered barbeques, and even a sink to wash any food containers. The toilet block was nearby, so too were the bins.
Then there was the interesting walk across the top of the dam wall - which prompted us to think about the impressive engineering that went into building this structure!
I would highly recommend Woronora Dam for your next picnic if you enjoy beautiful vistas in a peaceful environment without the crowds - along with the fascinating activity of walking along the top of a dam wall.
