点评：We visited vaitheeswaran temple with family.
From mayavaram station we took car and stayed in nearby hotel .
We opted early morning 6 o clock for my daughter tonsure ,so bought ticket and they have some place to tonsure and hot water was also available to give bath for kids.after getting fresh we all went to temple.
We got archanai plates and did our archanai for lord vaitheeswaran swamy that's lord Shiva,then came to thaiyalnayaki shrine ,since it was kandha shasti week,abhishekam was done for muthukumaraswamy also that is lord Muruga.
Then here main important god is lord Angarakan or planet Mars,they give archanai plate with red cloth ,so we can do archanai and temple elephant is also there ,which comes to bless us all.
Here there are few things very special
1.lord Shiva is worshipped as vaidyanathar or vaitheeswaran 'god of healing'.derived from vaidya (doctor) ,ishavara (god).
2.the temple is renowned for plam leaf astrology ,known as Nadi astrology and siddhamirtham tank believed to contain water with healing properties.
3.legend says Shiva appeared here as a doctor,to cure a devotee named angaraha of leprosy.
4.the surrounding sanctum are metal images of subramanya swamy,nataraja,somaskanda ,Angarakan,and stone sculpture of various deities.
5.the thaiyalnayaki shrine is also believed to cure diseases.
6.tonsure ceremonies for children ,lighting lamps on rice cakes (maavilaku), placing salt and pepper in front of pot near temple tank,are very common .
Also thiruchandu urundai is available,which is of medicinal property.
