Wonderful, Relaxing Park
The Falls of Carillon的点评
点评：Beautiful, small section of a one larger falls, when the river/canal system was used to power early industry in Ticonderoga.
As you come into town from Ft. Ticonderoga/Ticonderoga Ferry, the road cuts through a hillside. On top is a large old building, below is a hillside park with the falls at one end.
As you first come into town, if you turn right, in front of the Heritage Museum, cross the bridge, then turn right again, just ahead on the right will be an entry to a sports park/complex ... again if you stay hard right at that entrance, the the pavement will take you down to a parking area, with picnic tables. There are also bench seats where you can sit, relax, and look at/listen to the falls. Great place for a snack or a picnic lunch.
There is also an old covered bridge, only for foot traffic, which crosses the canal and takes you to the hillside part of the park. There, pathways wind up and down the hillside, great for hikers, walkers and dog lovers. You can also walk downhill to an overlook that gives great views of the falls, close up.
I was there on a warm, sunny day and there was plenty of shade to just hang out, relax, and soak up the fresh air and sunshine. Just wonderful. And whenever I was there, or drove by, it was NOT crowded.
