“Gilded Age” Museum in Lenox Is A Treasure Worth Visiting

点评：If you’re looking for an impeccably preserved “Gilded Age” mansion, this mansion isn’t yet ready to meet your desire. However, if you’d like to get an inside look at both a “Gilded Age” mansion and modern-day preservation techniques being put into action then this mansion is perfect for you.
The mansion itself is imposing and dramatic from the outside. Once inside, you can easily imagine the opulence and statement of wealth it once conveyed. The inside is partially in a rough state of restoration, but that turned out to be the best part of our visit. For example, only part of a decorative wood ceiling in the dining room is original, the rest having been removed by a previous owner. Skilled craftspeople are now replicating the original wood panels with intricate carvings to create a complete ceiling.
So bring your imagination and a desire to learn more about the “Gilded Age” and the preservation techniques used to bring this period of American history back to life. A visit is highly recommended.
