Return visit quite a disappointment
Point of the Bluff Vineyards的点评
点评：We visited Point of the Bluff in April 2023 and really enjoyed the wine and atmosphere, so it was on our list of favorites when we our returned to the Finger Lakes last weekend.
The four of us arrived on Saturday at 4:20pm after hiking a local waterfall and were looking forward to tasting and buying some delicious wine. The tasting area was completely full, so I asked if was too late (winery closed at 5pm).
I was assured they'd fit us in and was told they stopped letting people in at 5pm, we would not have to leave at 5pm. We waited about 10 minutes without anyone talking to us again, so we then asked if we could do our tasting at an outside table (a chilly but dry afternoon). The host said that was no problem and to make ourselves comfortable and someone would be out to see us. They had plenty of warm cozy blankets which was a nice touch. We waited another 10 minutes and then went inside to ask if anyone could help us. At that point only a handful of people were inside and there were plenty of seats at the tasting bar. Jess was assigned to guide us on the wine tasting. We selected our wines, including several we especially liked (and had bought in 2023). The tasting was a bit rushed with small pours.
The main disappointment was as we were choosing wines to purchase. Jess did not mention any quantity discounts to us. I had to specifically ask and only then was told the discounts for 6 and 12 bottles. We selected 14 bottles and as she rang us up she clearly said "four tastings" and charged us for all four tastings. I thought that was odd as most wineries comp at least one tasting for every 4-6 bottles purchased, but I said nothing (my fault). It turns out their own website says every 6 bottles comps one tasting. I know $20-30 is not a big deal but considering how we were ignored, then rushed, it just soured the entire experience.
If they had just told us at 4:20 pm they were too busy we would have understood and returned the next day and probably on all annual return trips. Now we've crossed it off our list. There are too many other wineries that treated us wonderfully to spend any more money at Point of the Bluff.
