At times a desert wilderness framed by a volcanic mountainous terrain
Parc Natural de Jandia的点评
点评：Friday the 19th June we drove through a section of this Natural Park. Our journey through commenced when we took the unsufaced road, track from outside Morro Jable.
We were driving the 19 kilometres to visit the remote Playa de Cofete. At 11 kilometres along the track there is a fork in the road, taking the left hand side leads to Faro de Punta de Jandia, a further 8 kilometres away. Taking the right side led us the Playa Cofete, again 8 kilometres away.
Driving through was an opportunity to take in the incredible scenery and landscape. At times it was just desert wilderness framed by the mountainous landscape. Also the volcanic landscape also resembled what one could image as a lunar landscape.
We learnt that the Parque covers an area of over 14,000 hectares across the southwestern tip of the Island.
The Parque is also home to a number of outstanding features, including Pico de la Zarza, also known as Pico de Jandía, at 807 metres (2,648 feet) it is the island's highest peak.
The beautiful remote beach of Playa Cofete stretches for 12 kilometres along the coast. Here you will find the remote Hamlet of Cofete, it's Cemetery and the strange Winter House.
Mirador de Cofete (Degollada de Agua Oveja) is also located in the Parque, with panoramic views across it and Cofete Beach.
