点评:A puzzling and very mixed experience. I booked a private lesson here for a change of scene, despite regularly attending lessons at two riding schools further south, one of which specializes on jumping. A private lesson at Chestnut Stables lesson was almost twice as expensive as my usual stables. I should mention that am an older rider (50s) and have been riding on and off for most of my life - since from the age of five - at various schools around this country and in other parts of the world. I arrived exactly 15 minutes before the lesson, as requested, but the reception was not particularly welcoming (as other reviewers pointed out) as I was instructed to wait outside in the car park until the lesson started. However, I was very pleased to see the horses appeared to be in excellent condition, and the horse I was given was well groomed and his tack well maintained. A good sign. But what happened next was confusing. I genuinely wanted constructive criticism to improve my riding, but was told everything I was doing was wrong - literally every step from moment I mounted. I was instructed to change so many aspects of my posture that I felt horribly unbalanced and not in control. This, along with the onslaught of negative feedback, became thoroughly confusing and left me doubting whether I can ride at all. We mutually agreed to finish the lesson, and I honestly felt relieved to dismount (which I also did wrong, apparently!). I was asked to give feedback and said in all honesty I hadn't enjoyed the experience. On reflection, I can respect the fact that this stable has a very specific way of doing things, and its horses and riders are trained accordingly. This is clearly best suited to a beginner who will be learning these ways from scratch and adapt accordingly. For the rider who has been taught differently, it's a trial.
