点评:I have been going to motor museums for at least 40 years and only once before did I feel I was really exploring and discovering a hidden treasure. To get there you have to drive 25 or so km off the main ring round round Iceland. The museum fills two large buildings, and what looks like a busy car park is actually overspill from the collection. As soon as you enter your hostess switches on 50s music that fits the American diner feel of the cafe/ entrance. We started with freshly made to order tractor shaped waffles(!) with home made jam from a local berry and an mountain of whipped cream with a coffee. Being off the main drag, prices were similar to the U.K. it was good, the large cafe was full of memorabilia, so much so you could spend half an hour just looking round it. We wandered round the museum. Cars were bumper to bumper, many had been beautifully restored, many had been donated and some were ‘as found’. One large barn contained the 1930-70s cars and the other barn had a lot of high performance ‘moderns’, Toyota Corollas, Mitsubishi, Ford etc, there was even an area for snowmobiles! It really was a great visit. We had another coffee and left just as one other couple arrived to look round. The guy said he had been once been 3 years ago, and agreed it was a brilliant place.
