点评:The Davidson Whaling Station is about 16km out of town, the last 4km on a dirt road. Fine for 2-wheel drives but drive appropriately. Not for trailers or caravans.
This serene little spot has the remaining humble home of the Davidson family and shows what life was like for these intrepid early families. Life was simple, tough and demanding. Interesting artefacts in the house including some writings of family members of what life was like in the early 1900s.
The story of ‘teaming’ up with the orcas when whaling is the stuff of legends. Really fascinating. Working with the local Aboriginal inhabitants is refreshing to read, working together with respect and equal pay. Too many of our First Nations stories do not reflect this respect between folk. Nice to read a positive story.
When we were leaving a lot of family groups were arriving with picnics for the day, and it would be a nice little beach for groups to enjoy.
This was the best thing we did in Eden.
