点评:Biking and food and Copenhagen......can it get any better? Maybe not. Our private tour with Lisa happened just outside of what would normally have been the end of season for Foods of Copenhagen for bike tours, but since the biking portion of the tour was rated so highly, I had to 'twist her arm' ever so gently to convince Lisa that we really still wanted to ride around Copenhagen for our first visit there to see as much as possible. A private guided tour certainly makes that possible and Lisa relented. Lisa demonstrated the rules of the road beforehand as they are a bit different than free riding in N. America, but we caught on quickly. I'd note that we rented bikes from our hotel which ended up probably being the best bargain during our entire 5 day visit to Copenhagen. FoC can arrange for bikes, but this made it a bit easier, likely saved money and allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the bikes before pedaling off. Lisa herself rode to our hotel near the central train station to meet us from where we started the tour. She also rode with us back to the hotel at the end of the tour. First stop the Danish Parliament Building, Christianberg Palace, where Meyers I Tårnet, a Noma related restaurant, has taken residence in the "attic space", a breathtaking historic space at the top of the building where some of the best Smørrebrød in town is served up. What a start! I'd note that as seniors, our appetites are limited as is our alcohol intake. While we had one smørrebrød each, we could have added to that as well as had more to drink. The food was wonderful. Next leg brought us across the river to the Christianhaven part of town with Lisa pointing out both new and historic buildings and the 2nd meal stop at Restaurant Kanalen, a Michelin Recommended eatery. It did not disappoint. Again we could have eaten and drank more, but we didn't. A ride through the quirky but set in it's throwback ways Christiania before crossing back over the river to touristy Nyhaven where we settled into our 3rd food stop, Judie, a canalside boat restaurant which is on the 'right side' of the Nyhaven canal with a peaceful front row view of the postcard colorful buildings lining the north side of the canal without all the tourists crawling over us. Another 5 star Danish plates restaurant with an extensive wine and snaps list. Then the return leg along the river passing through the new Library and Blox Danish Architecture Center and back to our hotel, about 4.5 hours later. The weather cooperated, the cycling pace was perfect, the sights world class and the food top notch. While FoC is not the cheapest way to do a bike tour, it would be hard to beat the memories we will fondly look back on.
