点评:We were originally going to take our grandson to the Winter Gardens but the car parks were closed for the women’s rugby at the Stadium of light. We therefore followed diversions and ended up at Riverside park next to the Durham cricket ground.
Despite having a blue badge you still have to pay to park. The car parks were was very busy. There was a travelling fair with rides (expensive) play and large grass areas, a splash zone for warmer days. Our grandson enjoyed playing on the swings and slides. There is a cafe for snacks (prices were reasonable). The toilets though were awful and inadequate for the number of people visiting (don’t know if it’s the cafes responsiblity or the Councils?)
Next to the cafe is a short walk to the river weir. For a free activity there’s plenty to do especially when the weather is nice.
