点评:There is not a lot left of the crumbling 13th century King’s Tower (La Tour du Chateau du Roy). Even so, it is a very distinctive landmark, with the solitary tumble-down tower standing out clearly on the town's skyline. You can easily pick it out from any viewpoint (its the one with the flags).
The tower dates back to at least the 13th century and was part of the city’s defence.
You can climb the tower for just a couple of euro but you have to buy the ticket from the Tourist Office. Unfortunately we didn’t realise this until we got to the tower and the tourist centre was back in the main square, some distance from the tower.
TIP: I’d recommend stopping by the Tourist Office as soon as you arrive in Saint-Emilion. It’s a one-stop shop. They sell the tickets for both the King’s Tower and the Monolithic Church Tower here. Tours through the Monolithic Church, catacombs and the chapel also have to be booked here.
