点评：My husband and I went to Italy for 3 weeks in May 2026. The final destination of our trip was to the island of Ischia for 5 days, which we wished had been longer. We stayed at Gardenia Mare which was absolutely amazing. The location was near the Ischia Porto and the property was set back between beautiful rocks on a bluff right on the water with an amazing view of the castle. It was stunning. We were able to take a water taxi which was always arranged by our host Mauro. Such a cool and beautiful way to get to things and just experience overall. We were also able to take a taxi or walk to the downtown, Porto, for shopping and meals. We did a lot of walking in Italy as is to be expected. And we are in decent shape which helped even with the walk from this property into town. As you will begin the walk up an incline but it isn’t too hard. You can walk to town in about 20 minutes and to the Castle in about 15 minutes. The restaurant at Gardenia Mare was amazing. Sitting outside on a bluff overlooking the water and the lit up Castle was beautiful. The food and service at Gardenia Mare was the best we had in Italy. And that says a lot as the food in Italy is amazing. We are big foodies and this is an important part of our travels. Also Mauro was an amazing host. He was amazingly helpful and attentive. We followed all of his recommendations for meals and activities and were blown away. Like Coco restaurant, which we took a water taxi to, and it was right on the water under the Castle where had the local fish again, amazing. In town we ate at Cru, that Mauro recommended, which was also amazing but not as good as Gardenia Mare. At most of these restaurants they bring the fish to you table side to select and then they prepare it for you. We also went to Forio and Sant Angelo, two of the beautiful and amazing towns in Ischia. We actually decided to try the bus to this side of the island. Mauro was very helpful with this. You can buy bus tickets in the small little convenient stores or at the Port downtown. And everyone was very helpful to clarify which was the correct bus to take based on our destination. Visiting this side of the island is a must. Beautiful and very different beaches. Soaking in the thermals is a highlight. We went to the Poseidon which was great. It is quite large with views of the beautiful sea and the rocks it was built into. Mauro recommended we leave for lunch and then return back to the thermals. So glad we did this! We walked to the restaurant Gabbiano on the beach and again wonderful food. Many people we spoke with prior to our visit suggested staying on this side of the island. We were so happy we stayed where we did as it was beautiful, more relaxed and not as busy. And we do like activities and being close to things. I can’t say enough about Gardenia Mare, the restaurant and Mauro. This place is very special as is Mauro. I can’t forget to mention the unique swimming and lounging area at Gardenia Mare. It is just below the restaurant and grounds of the property. It is small and quaint built into the rocks as so much is in Italy. There is a small section of sand even which you can walk right into the water. There are kayaks and paddle boards available for rent as well. Not to mention the service from your lounge chairs to bring you wine, the ever famous Aperol Spritz or what ever you want.
