Reggae Hill的点评
点评：I really wanted to love Reggae Hill, but it fell short of the beautiful riverside retreat described in the tour overview. The setting by the White River is naturally lovely, yet the area feels more like a rough campsite than a relaxing tropical hideaway. The fence to the toilets was broken, the grounds were untidy, and the facilities felt worn.
There was no live reggae or spontaneous dancing as promised. Instead, there was someone playing reggae music at full blast, so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. The food took ages to be served, and while it tasted fine once it arrived, the whole experience lacked the warmth and energy suggested in the marketing.
Mosquitoes were constant, the river was far from crystal clear, and the 1.5-hour drive each way from the cruise port made the visit feel even less worthwhile.
The gift shop prices were frankly outrageous. Two hundred and twenty-seven grams of ground Blue Mountain coffee was $35 USD, a bottle of dark rum was $35 USD, and four small tubs of Jamaican spices in a wooden rack were also $35 USD. When I asked if prices were in Jamaican dollars, I was told they were in US dollars, which left a poor impression.
I noticed that previous reviews have scored Reggae Hill very highly, but I honestly could not see how. Perhaps experiences vary, but mine was far from relaxing or value for money. The photos I have added were taken on the day and show the reality of what to expect.
Overall, it is a pleasant enough spot for a quick stop but not the luxurious, lively paradise advertised. With some genuine hospitality, fairer pricing, and a little more care, it could be lovely, but right now it feels overpriced and underwhelming.
