Terrible first Santa’s Grotto experience

点评：I attended Hollybush Santa’s Grotto 30th Nov with my 8 month old, partner and parents. This was the first grotto experience for us, as this is my child’s first Christmas, and what an awful experience it was. We booked a slot for 3pm online which cost £34.95 for a baby and 4 adults, we joined what we thought was the ‘queue’ (no staff around to confirm) at 2:20pm and did not get to see Santa until 4:20pm. What is the point in booking a time slot if you have to queue for 2 hours?! Not only this, the majority of the queue (1hr 30 mins) was outside which was not indicated when booking, so I had to purchase extra hats/gloves for my little one as it was freezing. The garden centre closed at 4:15pm and there was still a huge queue of people waiting to see Santa - despite the fact many families had left due to upset/tired little ones and that they had other places to be. It was so poorly organised, hardly any staff around to ask what was happening, clearly they’d taken on way too many bookings for Sunday hours. Once we finally got into the grotto experience, you could tell the ‘elves’ were trying their best but it also felt rushed and not very magical probably because we’d spent so long waiting. Inside the grotto ‘Santa’ was very pleasant, as were his two assistants. I wouldn’t recommend other people attend this grotto, I have no idea if it has been better in previous years but after my experience I won’t be coming back.
