Nothing is artificial here — the original stage machinery, candlelight ( well they were electrical), and hand-painted sets are so authentic and enchanting.
We were lucky to take a guided tour led by one of the palace's own guides, who was absolutely fantastic — passionate, knowledgeable, and clearly in love with the history and artistry of the theatre. Their insights brought the building to life, helping us understand not just the architecture and machinery, but the culture and creativity of the era.
It’s rare to find a place where history feels this present. Drottningholm Palace Theatre isn’t just a preserved monument; it's a working time machine and a celebration of theatrical tradition. A must-visit for anyone who loves history, the performing arts, or simply being amazed.
