Jaisalmer War Museum的点评
点评：Wonderful road trip with friends. The roads made the trip more enjoyable. Majority of the roads were good without any bumps. Jaisalmer, The Golden City was lovely. Yellow sandstone structures are everywhere. The intricate artistry keeps one awed. Beautiful! Gives us a peek into the rich heritage of India.
We stayed at the Club Mahindra Resort that was an experience in itself. If possible do try and stay there for the wonderful stay and hospitality.
Jaisalmer Fort, Kuldhara the abandoned village, Bada Baug, Patwon Kothari Haveli, Gadisar Lake, all worth a visit.
Visiting the Jaisalmer War Museum was an experience in itself. As lights go off after 7pm and The Sound and Light Show lights up the screen through the pitch darkness, the Indo-Pak war of 1971 comes alive to heighten patriotic emotions. A good effort barring a few hiccups with the audio system. The Souvenir Shop there offers reasonably priced products to take back home or for gifting and the canteen has some good snacks too.
We booked our Desert Safari through the Club manager for safety. Seems some outlets do not deliver what they promise. Sunset at the Sand Dunes is another experience. One can get a camel ride or hire a camel cart to go around. My camel was an angry young fellow who just didn't want to entertain me so I had to join our group in the cart. By the way, my friend got his mobile phone flicked by someone. The camel tour manager assured that they will search for it and return it and it was returned by late night along with an apology by the over enthusiastic flicker.
We stayed in well equipped self contained tents and had a blast at the music and dance show at night . One could carry alcohol and enjoy it under the chilly night sky with hot snacks from the restaurant. We did away with out warm clothes after setting the stage on fire with the local dancers.
The early morning ride in an open jeep to see the Sunrise at the dunes had our teeth chattering but what couldn't be cured by a cuppa! Sure enough, fresh hot tea served around the bonfire settled us a bit. The paid bike ride on the dunes was an exhilarating experience.
In all a great experience.
