DO NOT Park on the Roadside at Tárcoles Crocodiles!

点评：We stopped by the side of the road with our friends to see the Tárcoles crocodiles in Costa Rica. It only took about 10–15 minutes, but by the time we returned to our locked car, our bags—containing laptops, cash, passports, and personal belongings—were gone.
We reported it to the police immediately. Luckily, one of us got a location ping from their AirPods. We tracked the signal to a pretty sketchy, rough neighborhood. The pin led us directly to a house. The people living there were acting very strange; at first, they didn't even want to talk to us or answer why we were driving onto their property. One of our friends walked around the property accompanied by a resident, but we didn't find anything.
Then, a white car pulled up and honked at us (or at the residents), but no one got out. Since our friend spotted another AirPods signal nearby, we decided to follow that instead. Meanwhile, one of the resident women walked over to the white car, holding something in her hand, staring at us while talking to the people inside. Maybe I'm just paranoid because the whole ordeal was terrifying, but my gut tells me they were involved.
Following the second signal, we finally found all our bags tossed into the woods by the roadside. The thieves had left behind what was useless to them—clothes, charging cables, notebooks—but all electronics and cash were stolen. Fortunately, our passports were still in the bags.
After reading up on it later, we found out that organized crime operates heavily in this area. We strongly advise anyone visiting the crocodiles to park only in monitored lots with security cameras. If your belongings do get stolen, check this GPS coordinate: 9°53'06.3"N 84°35'01.9"W.
