Amazingly ancient aquaculture system.

点评：Last week a group of friends who began their friendship at University in the 1960s gathered in Portland for a birthday celebration. Part of this celebration was a tour beginning at Tyrendarah. We were met by a friendly guide Jason Saunders who welcomed us to his traditional lands and waters. This Gunditjamara man taught us so much about the eel farms, the engineering forms of the traps and holding ponds, the permanent structures for family groups, the smoking trees for the eels which make up this extensive aquaculture system built amid the landscape of a volcanic lava flow from Bunj Bim (called Mt Eccles). We saw the traditional calendar and more channels at. Kurtonitji and concluded the tour with a delicious lunch at Tae Rak where Lake Condah is slowly filling after being drained by farmers in the 1950s. This guide was so knowledgeable and tactful, he was able to teach us so much, and answer so many questions. I can’t recommend these tours highly enough.
