A delight for novice and experienced gardeners

点评：We visited at the end of the very dry and sunny April. We originally booked to see tulips, but as the month wore on we wondered we we were paying £18 to look at tulip stems. While a few bulbs had started to go over, we were treated to a vibrant display of colour. With later varieties - there were still plenty of tulips as well as a few late daffodils to enjoy. One of the distinguishing features of Sarah's approach to gardening is bold colours, putting them together in combinations I would not have tried at home.
The gardens are not huge, but thoughtfully divided into different areas, with a wonderful traditional oast house as the backdrop. While the emphasis is on the flowers, there are fruit trees and a productive vegetable garden too. The quality of the planting is excellent, and the thought and care that has gone into it will delight both novice and experienced gardeners.
We can't comment on the lunches - but the other refreshments were very pleasant with a choice of hot and cold drinks reasonably priced and some vegan cake to go with it. Despite the demand on a hot day, staff were friendly and efficient.
On a practical note disabled access is possible but not great. There are other gardens in Sussex that are much more easy to negotiate for those with mobility considerations. This is not a nursery. On our visit there were seeds on sale, some dahlia bulbs and a small number of plants that were left over. We got delays in traffic on the way there - but there is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere - and although its polite to arrive on time - no one throws you out at the end of your slot.
