点评：The Grey Cairns of Camster are two large Neolithic Chambered Cairns built 5,000 years ago with corbelled dry-stone roofs. There are two Cairns, the Long Cairn and the Round Cairn, with central burial chambers accessed through narrow passages from the outside. The Long Cairn originally consisted of two round Cairns but at some point, it was converted into one Long Cairn. These two enormous, reconstructed burial chambers are among the oldest structures in Scotland. Cairns have been and are used for a wide variety of purposes. In prehistory, they were raised as markers and burial monuments.
They have gates on the entrances to stop sheep from getting in. But you can open the gate and crawl in on your hands and knees; you need a good torch. This takes you into the centre of the Cairn.
There are wooden walkways to walk on, as the land around the Cairns is boggy. In Summer, the area is well known for midges, so put on plenty of spray and maybe consider wearing a face net.
