点评:Having been in the fabric business for 46 years, I was interested in checking out this attraction while my wife and I were in the Durham area. The museum is in a rural area outside Burlington, and GPS got us there without issue.
The museum is free, but donations are suggested. Upon entering, we were provided with a map of the entire mill village area. We walked through the museum, which had a lot of machinery, fabric samples and a mock company store in the back; in fact, this building was historically the company store. Off to the side was a small gift shop, and next door was the manager's office, which is as it was left when the mill closed in 1954.
It was interesting to me to learn here what happened to Burlington Industries, which at one time was the largest fabric manufacturer in the world. (It was sold and consolidated into another company.)
We did not take the time to wander around the mill village, but we did drive down the road to see the homes (they're privately owned and occupied) before turning around to leave the area. This was a very informative and interesting visit.
