Great habitat for bird watching, woeful facilities for visitors

点评：The actual reserve itself and the habitat at Dungeness is unique and diverse, offering a chance to see rare migratory visitors if you are lucky. It is definitely worth a visit.
One of the primary reasons we went to the visitor centre was to try out some binoculars before purchasing them. The shop previously offered quite a range of binoculars and scopes, so we were really surprised the shop no longer offers any merchandise like this. In line with other RSPB centres, there seems to be a deliberate strategy by the RSPB to scale back and even close facilities at visitor centres. This is really surprising in view of the profits the RSPB still makes from subscriptions and beneficial gifts. Surely, they should be investing in visitor centres to encourage people to visit and increase engagement with the next generation of bird watchers? In summary, the reserve at Dungeness is tranquil and worth visiting. The facilities at the visitor centre are woeful, despite the best efforts of the volunteers. If you do visit Dungeness, make sure you bring your own food and refreshments.
