点评:My wife and I joined another couple for a semi-private tour of Doñana with José on May 7, 2025. We left El Rocío at 7am, explored different eco systems --pastures, woods, marismas (wetlands)-- between El Rocío and the remarkable José Antonio Velarde visitors center. The National Park is vast, much more-so than I had previously realized. The area covered by this visit offers a rich sampling of the vastness and complexity of Doñana. (Visitors would be well advised to learn about and visit other areas as well; I highly recommend the Dehesa de Abajo, for instance, for independent naturalists and bird enthusiasts.) The advantages to the visit offered by Discovering Doñana include the diversity of landscapes covered in a 5-hour outing and the knowledge provided by José, the expert and caring guide. I appreciate especially the ability to interact informally and spontaneously, the chance to learn about the park and about someone who is dedicating his life to protecting a unique, crucial and fragile ecosystem. José offered ample opportunities to get out of the care, wander around the remarkable landscape, identify birds on our own. But José was always there to help us learn, interactively. I would certainly repeat this experience, many times. The pictures that I include here are some of the rare finds --la Ganga Ibérica, la Garcilla Cangrejera, for instance-- that José shared with us.
