Great conservation centre
Hemsley Conservation Centre的点评
点评：This was a fantastic place to visit and thoroughly recommend.
It is very much a conservation centre, where the animals are clearly the priority, they are very well cared for. They all have their own off-show area which i think is really good, we spent all day here and by visiting each enclosure more than once, we got to see everything 😊
It's a smaller site which i didn't mind, it wasn't too hard to navigate and we were able to see everything. My mum walks with a stick but was able to navigate the site fully, and the fact it wasn't huge meant she didn't need to stop and rest often which was a great bonus.
Facilities - the only negative i can think was that there was only one set of toilets on site. There is usually 2 but one set were not open. We were made aware of this immediately upon entering and it did not affect our visit. But would be nicer once the second set are open again.
Positives: shop and cafe! The food at the cafe was delicious, freshly prepared and great choices on the menu. The shop is attached to the cafe and plenty of options to choose from. Both are very fairly priced.
But for me, the biggest positive were the staff! There were 6 members of staff we saw and interacted with throughout the day and they were all fantastic! Firstly, the lady in the cafe /shop (I'm so sorry I didn't get her name!) She was incredibly welcoming on arrival when checking us in. She was also the one to serve us for the cafe and gave brilliant service then too. Her 2 colleagues who were in the cafe and shop while we were there were also great! They supported with cooking the food, clearing the tables and keeping the area well kept. They also served us for the shop, were friendly and helpful and when we mentioned not yet seeing some animals gave us tips on where to wait and see them (which worked!) There was a volunteer at the site we saw several times who was friendly and chatty. But the 2 special mentions go to the two keepers we saw. Shaun and Tom. Shaun we saw several times during the day and he was very friendly, chatting with us each time about different animals (Tito the tapir, Mike the capybara, the Binturongs and the Mane Wolves). He took the time to speak in depth about the animals and answer our questions and was really great. He also fed some of them while we were there which made sure we actually got to see our favourite animals for longer time too! Tom gave the three animal talks we attended and they were so good. Very informative with lots of details including information we've never heard at talks at other zoos etc. Again, he was very accommodating to us, answering lots of questions and taking extra time to talk to us about the animals.
Honestly, the staff made this trip go from great to fantastic. Thank you!
Overall, had a wonderful day and would definitely recommend if you love animals!

不过对我来说，最棒的还是那里的员工！那天我们遇到了6位工作人员，他们全都非常出色！首先是咖啡馆/商店里的那位女士（很抱歉，我没记住她的名字！）。我们刚到时，她热情地接待了我们，给人留下了极好的印象。她也是为我们提供服务的咖啡馆工作人员，当时的服务也非常出色。我们在场时，咖啡馆和商店里的另外两位同事也同样很棒！他们协助烹饪食物、清理餐桌，还把场所打理得井然有序。他们也在商店里为我们服务，态度友善又乐于助人；当我们说还没看到某些动物时，他们还给了我们去哪里等候才能看到这些动物的建议（结果真的奏效了！）在现场，我们有幸遇到了一位非常友善且健谈的志愿者。不过最让我们印象深刻的还是两位饲养员：肖恩和汤姆。白天我们多次见到肖恩，他十分热情，每次都会和我们聊起各种动物——比如貘蒂托、水豚迈克、蜜熊以及鬃狼。他耐心地为我们详细介绍这些动物的情况并回答我们的问题，真的太棒了。我们在那儿的时候，他还喂了其中的一些动物，这让我们得以更长时间地观赏到我们最喜欢的动物！汤姆为我们作了三场关于动物的讲座，都非常精彩。内容丰富且详尽，包含了许多我们在其他动物园的讲座中从未听到过的信息。他同样对我们极为周到，耐心解答了我们提出的诸多问题，还特意花时间与我们聊聊这些动物。
