Our Mara Family Adventure: A Birthday to Remember

点评：From Nairobi to the Mara and back, this was not just a safari. It was an adventure that opened our eyes to the magic of Kenya’s wild.
One of the biggest thrills was seeing wildlife I had never encountered before and seeing it at incredibly close range. The Mara kept surprising us, with every game drive bringing another unforgettable encounter.
The lions were a story on their own. We got such close-range views of these magnificent creatures, while Peter casually introduced us to some of the nicknames tour guides use in the wild. “Vichwa” for the lions, “Shingo” for the giraffes and “Maskio” for the elephants. Somehow, those little names made each sighting even more fun and memorable.
And the discoveries just kept coming. Seeing a cheetah in the wild for the first time was an absolute thrill. Then there was the adorable dik-dik, one of Africa’s smallest antelopes, magnificent wildebeest and so many other animals I had previously only admired in photographs. Every sighting brought a fresh burst of excitement. Spot something, call out, grab the cameras and wait for the perfect shot!
And then came the ultimate thrill: the Big Five!
What made these encounters even more special was our driver-guide, Peter Mwangi. Patient, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about Kenya and its tourism, Peter seemed to have a sixth sense for finding wildlife. He knew where to take us, navigated the Mara with ease and positioned us perfectly for those unforgettable close-up views.
For my family, the Mara became an open-air classroom, an adventure playground and a place of wonder. We learnt, explored, laughed and captured photographs that will take us straight back to those magical moments.
Peter was fantastic with the children too, making thoughtful stopovers for health breaks and ensuring everyone remained comfortable throughout the journey.
And the vehicle was absolutely peak. Clean, tidy and exceptionally well maintained throughout the safari. The windows, roof and doors worked perfectly and the seats were comfortable and firm, making every game drive enjoyable.
This was easily one of our most memorable family adventures. And yes, I am already thinking about the next one with Peter and Big Foot!
