Enjoy Morayvia at Kinloss in Moray

点评：Much to see and do at this attraction at Kinloss in Moray. So much so, in fact, that I was unable to make the most of my visit since I had other commitments. Spent too long on a simulator struggling to turn the aircraft in a controlled manner to return to base so I would have run out of fuel! All of the UK Air-Sea rescue helicopters are represented here (I think) and there’s a goodly selection of fighters and bombers. Part of a Shackleton is under restoration and I was blown away by the scale. All very well watching ‘The Dambusters’ but when you’re standing next to the cockpit and front fuselage, it’s huge. Many of the exhibits are front-fuselage only but that’s OK. You appreciate the scale and see the pilot controls.
Your experience will be much enhanced by willing volunteers who are easy to recognize and happy to interact with you. One of my guides had actually flown a de Havilland Vampire and had a host of stories to relate.
Restoration takes place at this location too.
The planetarium was folded away when I was there but that’s another attraction if you’re interested in astronomy and cosmology.
Easy to find though car parking appears limited. No difficulty for me on Sunday 29 September 2024. Not sure how easy entry is for the disabled but there should be no difficulty getting round the indoor exhibition. Cockpit access etc. is by steps or stepladder.
Morayvia exceeded my expectations but it was a fine September day!
