Interesting ruins, more appreciable if included in a ring trail.

点评：Many things have been written in previous reviews about this ancient mill, and what hasn't been written about the history of the mill is reported in the interpretative panels (partly shamefully corrugated) located in a small clearing downstream from the mill.
Here I would therefore like to make space for a couple of considerations that so far I don't think have appeared in the reviews.
The first consideration: this mill is important, apart from its conspicuous remains, because it's valid for documenting the condition of milling in the past: since it's desirable that cereal mills were as widespread as possible throughout the territory, they would be forced to capture even small water flows, to make maximum use of the potential water falls in an area. Hilly Tuscany in particular, with its Mediterranean climate and most of the basins relatively poor in water, was an example of this condition, afflicted by the weak flow of the waterways.
Anyone who wanted to enhance the capacity of a mill beyond the possibilities provided by mother nature would have had to prepare important and expensive accessory works, for example a barrier that formed a large artificial basin upstream, and therefore a water reserve; as happened in this case, until - the mill fell into disuse - the basin was emptied by drilling the barrier. This makes the "Mulinaccio" a much more demanding work than the average of the small mills existing in the area in the past.
The second consideration: the mill in my opinion is much more enjoyable not as a destination in itself, but if included as a sight in a broader walking route. In fact, we have included it in a pleasant, scenic ring trail of about 4 km, available on the "Komoot" app, among the trails into the municipality of Scandicci.
