Birding at Thessaloniki and Lake Kirkini

点评：We had a very enjoyable trip with Spyros to the Thessaloniki Wetland and Lake Kirkini. He picked us up at our hotel in Thessaloniki, recommended by him, drove us throughout the trip and eventually took us to the airport for our flight to Athens for the next part of our holiday. We spent our first afternoon at the Thessaloniki Wetland which was very productive with many interesting bird sightings and numbers. We then went on to spent three days at Lake Kirkini, one day spending time on the lake in wonderful conditions - being at the same level as the pelicans was magical and not to be missed. We then spent two days visiting various areas near the lakeside where again we had many bird sightings.
He was an excellent bird spotter, quickly identifying the species. When out of the car he quickly set up his scope to give us good views of the subjects. He speaks excellent English and was very good at describing identification features/characteristics of each bird.
We got along with him very well and he gave us lots of good recommendations regarding places to visit and places to eat while we were in Athens.
He proved to be so much more than a nature guide, going the extra mile to assist with every step of our visit, even after our time with him had ended, after so much of the rest of our trip had to be changed at the last minute!
