Best Folk Museum in Ireland, a hidden gem just outside Ballinamore.

点评：This Folk museum is the best we have been at by far. At first we were greeted by the owner Brian, a lovely man. He took us on a tour and he explained everything to us. He had all the history and the years on the tip of his tongue.
It’s a huge place and everything is in its proper place. There are more than 7000 antique, historical and novelty items ranging from pre- famine times to the recent past. It starts outside in the extensive yard with all the old horse drawn farm machinery and a threshing machine, all in good shape, as well as the old tools that were used at the time.
Inside, starts off with the country shop with weights and measures, etc. Next I think was the chemist shop. Then there was a street scene with reconstructed shops and a pub and shop together as it was then. There was also the shoemaker’s equipment, the dairy, the churns for making butter. There is much more than I can think of, all fascinating. There is also a section for antique cars and the travelling shop which was very popular and essential in rural Ireland.
There are also some items of furniture from author, John McGahern’s home place. There is plenty of parking and toilet facilities.
