Lovely beach, fiddly parking payment, horrid toilets.

点评：We finally got ourselves down to this beach, lured by the chance to see the legendary dinosaur footprints and to find some fossils. We were also encouraged by the news of improvements to the car park.
On the upside, the new car park meant we could easily and safely park. On the downside the only way to pay for parking was via an app - and a different app than the car parks we'd visited elsewhere on the island so we had to go through the slow process of downloading it, then creating an account etc. (Good news for National Trust members, however, for whom parking is free.)
The new toilets, while recently constructed, were clearly not recently cleaned. Only one of them wasn't completely smeared with urine, mud and excrement. This despite our visit being mid-morning so not the result of a busy day of visitors. This unpleasantness - and the parking inconvenience - are what costs this lovely location its fifth star/dot/circle.
The beach itself was easy to access down a set of steps and, with the tide out, we were able to have a good explore along it. National Trust staff were on hand doing a beach tidy and they enthusiastically helped us locate the dinosaur footprints and gave us other location information.
Tide times are clearly posted at the top of the steps before you reach the beach, and there is an NT tea/coffee/ice cream van here at peak times.
(On a separate note, I'd recommend a tour here with Wight Coast Fossils if you're new to fossil finding. We didn't on this occasion but have enjoyed them in the past.)
As well as seeing the footprints/casts that we'd come for, we also found some great fossil claws and other items during our time.
