点评:An update on the Sideling Hill Welcome Center.
According to a long-time employee who actually returned my voice mail phone call, this Sideling Hill Welcome Center has had a very troubled history. She worked there as a State of Maryland employee from the early days of the center. She job was ended and the welcome center closed with gates beginning in 2009 - 2015. She reapplied and regained her job and has been there ever since. Her supervisor retired July 2024 and the job not reposted. Apparently, this welcome center has been left to rot. Goodwill employees has been contracted 24/7 to do maintenance/housekeeping and mowing. And remember, there is no wi-fi outside the building so don't think you can get internet information from your car in the parking lot.
Meditate for a minute in the Vietnam Veterans alcove -- not to be missed.
The view on a clear day would be breathtaking.
If you want this place to be reopened, contact your political representatives.
The exhibits are at the Hancock Museum, staffed by a volunteer only on Saturday from 10-2, if at all.
Dixie said the acorns from the oak trees lining the parking lot are Sawtooth Oak, not a Maryland select species, according to Anne, Dept of Natural Resources.
TAX DOLLARS WASTED.
