The Most Picture Perfect Church in Strasbourg

点评：Perhaps the most beautiful or at least most picture perfect Strasbourg church is one of its newest. At nearly 130 years old, St. Paul's is not really new, but compared to the major churches of the Grande Ile, it is certainly younger by centuries. It is the Protestant Neustadt counter to the Catholic St. Peter the Younger, built at nearly the same time during the German Empire period in 1897. Unlike its Neo Romanesque counter, this is a beautiful Neo Gothic design with not one but 3 amazing rose windows. It is further distinguished by twin Gothic spires that mirror each other. However its interior and exterior beauty is only accentuated by the church's setting on a fork of the River Ill as it winds to the Rhine.
Unfortunately, our cruise visited Strasbourg on a Monday which is the only day the church is closed. Still, I had a chance to see exterior of the church during my walk through the Neustadt. You can get great pictures of the church from the road in front of the church, but I agree the best are from the bridge back towards the Grand Ile. It is the second best picture in Strasbourg after the Pons Covet from the Barrage Vauban. Additionally, you can get great pictures of the church from the top of the Cathedral as well.
