We were disappointed with Sudbury Hall.

点评：I was disappointed with Sudbury Hall. The building is impressive and sort of dominating. We travelled up from Devon especially to see the beautiful interiors which were used for the BBC 'Pride & Prejudice' series but nearly every room was emptied of furniture and filled with an exhibition of children's clothing through the ages. Every room was so dark it was impossible to see any details of the interiors through the gloom and the clutter of the exhibition.
We eventually found a very small closet room that professed to be the Pride & Prejudice exhibition which consisted of a couple of information boards and cases which was frankly pathetic.
The children's museum of toys was very interesting, and we thought it would have been better to have put the clothing exhibition together with this.
It was very hot, and I thought that putting children's games out on the front lawn where there was no shade whatsoever was not thought through very well.
There was little or no shade in the courtyard where people sat eating and most of the tables had no umbrellas. Most of the the benches in the garden by the lake were in full sun. I realise that Sudbury is now termed 'The children's country house' but surely there should be things if interest for adults who are visiting too. We bought a guide book, just so we could see what the house was supposed to look like
