点评:This amazing and ancient medieval oak tree can be found within beautiful forestry by the side of the mighty Tay. This venerable old tree really is situated in the most picturesque spot, and honestly looks like it’s come to life from the pages of a fairytale book. It’s become iconic as it’s a survivor of Birnam Wood - as referred to by Shakespeare in his famous play “The Tragedy Of Macbeth.” The tree is 27 metres tall, has a girth of 7 metres, and the first 10 feet of the tree are hollow.
The equally impressive Birnam Sycamore can be found a short distance away, but is a youngster in comparison - thought to be only around 300 years old.
The leafy and well-signposted 🪧 walk amongst all the various trees down here beside the river , is both blissful and restorative.
