点评:The East Wetlands is the area along the Colorado River that lies below and on the eastern side of the Territorial Prison. Many of the photos others have posted here actually appear to me to be of the West Westlands side. My husband and I did the East Wetlands Interpretive Loop Trail yesterday and were disappointed. To call it an interpretive trail is a bit of a stretch as there were very few interpretive signs, and once the trail turns away from the river, there are none. If I hadn’t had my All Trails app on for the map it would have been very easy to get lost as there are many side roads and trails and the main path is not well marked at all. The trail, once it leaves the river is basically a dirt road through scrub brush and marshy area (dry in Feb 2023). See my photos for illustration. Although it was a cooler February day (low-mid 70s) there is no shelter from the sun, and we were hot, dusty, and relieved when the trail looped around to meet the river again. West Wetlands is definitely a prettier walk, with lots of interesting signs and displays, and more shade.
