点评:Discovered this experience by accident while we were at Unawatuna. Only about 10minutes by cab from there. The humble exteriors belie the wonderful women inside. As soon as you enter you can dee the dyed yarn hanging to dry across the many clothes lines and hear the clickety clack of the looms. We went when the owner had to step away but he connected us with the diminutive Ms. Mallika. She spooke little English. We spoke no Sinhala. Yet we understood each other!! Through our visit to the fctory the owner also left us voice notes so we haf no challenges with communication. It takes seeing it to understand why handloom is generally more expensive than power looms, and yet something to be preserved. There is a large store attached to the factory where you can buy all kinds of table linen, sarongs, shirts and dresses. Worth a visit if you have an hour or two.
