点评:Went on the Trail just yesterday with a friend and easily parked near to the Screech Owl Centre who were , incidentally good for tea and cake afterwards. I would strongly suggest taking a photograph with your mobile phone of the large board maps , it’s easy to mix up all the colours of route and where they go amongst the 550 hectares of land. The trails are varied , some gravel and vehicle width , other stony , others barely wide enough to cycle through due to vegetation, and of course depending on the weather preceding your visit varying amounts of standing water and mud. Ideally it’s mountain biking territory and you won’t get caught out but a trail bike or hybrid will cope with care although you will feel the need to dismount in places. If you’re walking bear in mind the combined length of the trail can be 18km and you will need suitable footwear. Yesterday a Tuesday was very quiet and we cycled for long periods seeing no one but the Moor and its fauna at its best, although when the gorse is in flower it must be fairly amazing. It’s free and a great facility. It really could do with more of the large board maps and hints of wildlife to look out for.
