点评:Start yachting (taster) weekend in July 2025 led by Benedict; a calm, knowledgeable and safe pair of hands on the 37’ “One Life.”. It was a pleasure to sail with him.
An ideal beginners course for those interested in sailing and as a novice you will certainly come away knowing a lot more than you did coming into it.
For those unsure, no understanding is fine. The 5 crew (including Skipper) were all split on knowledge, interest and diet. For those that wanted to learn were given more attention and opportunity.
There were one or two delays. Perhaps this comes par for the course (no such thing as plain sailing)!
Shame not to sail the first night. There is a warning this could happen. Possibly down to a lack of fuel in the boat(?) and the fuel dock was closed on the first evening.
During the trip there was a considerable amount of engine bilge clean out required possibly due to a leak (?). Fortunately we were not far from home for most of the trip so not too big concern.
It was not obvious (or possible?) to convert the main galley into beds which made it difficult for one sleeping each night.
Aside the unlucky bits it was a good learning weekend and experience.
Thorough feedback was provided and recommendations for the next steps of learning.
You are made to feel very safe.
To get the best out of this go with an open mind, will to learn, get involved, listen, ask lots of questions. May fair winds be with you!
