Our last visit this year despite going every year for decades.

点评：We didn't book any hospitality tickets this year - we've done that a few times and weren't particularly impressed. We decided to walk down from the bridge to the start point, getting a couple of drinks on the way. That was the first nasty surprise. We had to queue to get into the first bar area. We decided to walk further along but then discovered that the next place to get a g&t (The Barn) required us to pay £15 admission to get us into the area where we could spend more of our money on food and drink. We passed by. No place further along to buy any drinks or to use the toilets anywhere and the rudeness of many people staggered us. I was pushed off the very narrow path into mud several times by people a quarter my age, who didn't trouble to apologise. Other entitled twerps were crowding the narrow path just standing around talking and didn't bother to move when I pointed out they were blocking the walkway. The final irritation was that everywhere it might have been possible to spend our hard-earned cash were only accepting cards, and I prefer to use cash. We won't bother going in future years despite it having been an enjoyable day out for us in the past, particularly as my husband used to row when he was at Oxford so it's a sentimental journey for him usually. Even he said he doesn't want to go next year. it's worth mentioning that this is a big-money event, let's face it. So it's about time Henley Council or the Regatta organisers did something about the path on the south side of the river, it's ludicrously narrow in most places and very muddy after rain.
