Sturgis rally was disappointing
斯特吉斯摩托车拉力赛的点评
点评：Been wanting to go since the early 90’s
Finally got a chance to check it out in person.I rode to the black hills from Vancouver island,it was a great ride worth every mile.did the Custer state park thing , needles hwy which was ok for 15 minutes or so….I live in British Columbia so I’m pretty spoilt with my riding territory.
Rushmore was tiny in comparison to what photographs and tv lead you to believe.
I was at the rally from Aug 1-9th pre rally is the only time to ride and soak in the scenery before it gets super busy that first Friday,after that it’s too stupid to ride just take “DA bus” and park your bike
I didn’t find the rally to be all that “Biker”it was more of a corporate America music festival with trailered in motorcycles “bagger festival”more of a Disneyland for Harley bagger rider’s
A place to bandana up and wear your favourite 2nd amendment biker shirt and see your “get back” whip dance in the wind for the first 100miles your bike has seen in a year.
Exit 55 rally was uneventful which is held at black hills Harley Davidson.It showed me it was very “bagger” nation for what they offered in parts and accessories .I ride a Vrod (the red headed step child of Harley Davidson the bike that scares the pants off any Harley tech (super scary I know) and I have also a softail and other motorcycles yammys and Hondas.the vrod was the logical choice to take,powerful ,liquid cooled….no brainer.
I had a hard time finding tires and oil changes especially for example at Fozzys garage which is heavily promoted as a “do it all garage” at the Buffalo chip
Fozzies could only supply “bagger/softail related bike repairs”and service.
(be warned incase you don’t have a modern current trendy Harley)
Yes I knew about the expense and I budgeted for that.
$6 beers and $12 highballs,$25 turkey legs…
..$4 domino pizza slices were a staple and (that’s what the hired models at the chip were living off of)
Silverado hotel in deadwood buffet $24 will fill you up for that one meal a day.
everywhere was “tip me”……the wash rooms at the full throttle had attendants sitting doing nothing with a tip me jar and I had a Pepsi with ice since I was riding which cost me $4 from the bar “heads up”.
The concerts at the chip were good.it’s a muddy cow field with some gravel.Harley’s are used as an extension of one’s lawn chair and rushed up front row at the stage to hopefully get seen on YouTube “life goals”
and you can hear rev limiters peaking all through the concert and night,
I thought how genius what an excellent way to blow out those cob webs from having your bike sit all winter and on a trailer heading to Disneyland for bikers I must say.
And before I get hated on for what I’m talking about I know there is real motorcycle enthusiasts showing up to the rally and before any bay sayer claims I obviously didn’t do any research and or go anywhere fun…well I’m here to say,I went everywhere and had passes for a ton of events…I even saw all the old guys getting played for thier money upstairs at one eyed jacks “entertaining” and again if you trailer whatever it’s your life I’m just giving an observation “
ultimately it’s my huge mistake for thinking 1990’s sturgis is still around ,yikes change and I’m the idiot I know.it’s a review after all in my opinion.
In closing I “WOULDN'T GO” to rally again I would of spent my $4000 on bike parts.
If I can offer any advice ,don’t believe everything you read or the images you see.this is a heavily doctored corporate event.
If you are a rider “DO THE RIDE” when it’s not rally.
If you want to party and go to a great music festival and want a lawn chair with an engine then trailer your bike and enjoy the offerings of sturgis rally!!!
